Do Brazil sits directly on the sand at Shell Beach, a 5-minute walk below Gustavia’s harbor. The restaurant is an outdoor terrace of tables on the beach, lit at night by fire torches planted in the sand. There is no formal interior — the tables are on the beach, the kitchen is behind a simple structure at the back, and the sea is in front of you. The setting at night is one of the most beautiful any restaurant in the Caribbean provides.

The cuisine is Brazilian-French fusion — grilled meats and fish with Brazilian technique and French Caribbean ingredients. The signature dishes include perfectly grilled Caribbean lobster, fresh fish ceviche, and a Brazilian-style picanha (rump cap steak). The caipirinha — Brazil’s national cocktail of cachaça, lime, and sugar — is made properly here, which is rarer than it should be in the Caribbean.

Do Brazil’s caipirinha is the benchmark against which all other caipirinhas on the island are measured. Two or three of these while watching the fire torches reflect on the water below Gustavia’s harbor lights is one of the defining evening experiences on St. Barts. Lunch is slightly more casual — the same setting, lighter food options, and the beach in full daylight instead of by torch. The combination of Shell Beach at noon, a cold caipirinha, and a fresh fish plate is one of the most pleasant lunches the island offers. Walk there from Gustavia in 5 minutes after a morning in the boutiques.

How to Book

Reserve ahead for dinner — particularly in peak season (December–March). The best tables (closest to the water, best torch views) go first. Call the restaurant directly. For lunch, walk-ins are generally possible on weekdays outside peak season.

Getting to Do Brazil

Walk from central Gustavia (5–7 minutes along the harbor road, then down to Shell Beach), or drive and park above Shell Beach. A rental car is needed if you’re staying anywhere other than Gustavia itself. Gustavia hillside villa guests at Lurin can walk or drive the short descent.
