What Cheval Blanc Is
Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France is a LVMH-owned luxury hotel on Flamands Beach — the island’s longest and quietest main beach on the northwest coast. It has 40 rooms and suites, two restaurants, the island’s finest spa (GUERLAIN), two pools, and a beach that is near-private given the hotel’s position away from the main tourist circuit. The hotel belongs to the LVMH Cheval Blanc collection — the same brand as Courchevel, Maldives, and the Paris hotel — which sets the standard for what to expect.
The Rooms
The 40 accommodations range from garden-view junior suites to beachfront villas with private pools. All are luxuriously appointed — Hermès toiletries (naturally, given the LVMH connection), handmade furniture, outdoor showers, private terraces. The best rooms are the beachfront villas with direct access to the sand and ocean views from bed. Room rates start at approximately €1,500/night in shoulder season and rise to €4,000–€8,000+/night for beachfront suites in peak January/February.
The Beach
Flamands Beach is Cheval Blanc’s greatest asset. The hotel’s section of Flamands is quiet, wide, and beautiful — one of the island’s calmest Caribbean-facing beaches with no jet skis or beach club energy. Beach service is impeccable: cold towels, sunscreen, cocktails, and food delivered without any need to signal. The beach is accessible to anyone on the island but the hotel guests clearly dominate the organised section.
The GUERLAIN Spa
Possibly the finest spa in the Caribbean. GUERLAIN treatments using the house’s full product range, delivered by skilled therapists in a beautifully designed facility with ocean views. If spa is a priority, Cheval Blanc is the only place on St. Barts that delivers at this level. Allow €300–€600 for a half-day treatment package.
The Restaurants
Two restaurants: one fine-dining (La Case), one more casual beach restaurant. Both are excellent and both are expensive. Non-guests can book tables at La Case — reservation recommended well ahead in peak season. The food quality is consistently high, the service is attentive without being obsequious, and the settings (one elevated with garden views, one on the beach) are among the island’s finest.
Is Cheval Blanc Worth It?
For specific travelers, yes — unequivocally. If you want the finest spa in the Caribbean, the most impeccable service, and a hotel room on Flamands Beach with every detail managed, Cheval Blanc is the right choice. The price is what it is. For most travelers comparing Cheval Blanc to a private villa with pool at 40–60% of the cost — the villa wins on value and often on experience. The decision comes down to whether you want the hotel experience or the villa independence.
