St Barts in March 2026: Shoulder Season Perfection

March occupies a special position in the St. Barts calendar. The New Year’s prices have eased, the island is still fully operational, and the weather remains exceptional. For travelers who want the full experience without the absolute peak price tag, March is worth serious consideration.

March Weather in St Barts

March weather is excellent. Temperatures range 26–28°C (79–82°F) with consistent northeast trade winds. The dry season continues through March — rainfall averages 50–60mm for the entire month, and most days see 8+ hours of sunshine. Sea temperature is 26°C. The trade winds are slightly stronger in March than January or February, which keeps the island feeling fresh rather than humid. For water sports — kitesurfing, sailing, and snorkeling — March conditions are among the best of the year.

Is March a Good Time to Visit St Barts?

March is excellent, and arguably the best balance of quality and value within peak season. The island is still fully operational — every restaurant, beach club, and charter operator working. The social energy is high. The prices, while still firmly in peak territory, are typically 10–20% lower than January and February. Availability is better. The island feels slightly less frantically busy, which many visitors prefer.

The one variable in March is Easter: if Easter falls in March (it moves each year), the island sees an additional surge in visitors and prices during Holy Week. Easter 2026 falls in late March/early April — plan accordingly.

March Events

Les Voiles de St. Barth (April — but book in March)

The island’s premier sailing regatta typically takes place in April. If you’re planning to attend, your accommodation needs to be booked by March at the latest — the regatta drives significant demand for late April.

Easter Week (late March / early April)

Easter brings a wave of European visitors to St. Barts — French, Italian, and British travelers who take the school holiday period seriously. Expect higher prices and fuller beaches during Holy Week. If Easter falls in your March travel window, secure your villa or hotel well ahead.

What to Do in March

  • All beaches fully open: Gouverneur, Saline, Saint Jean, Flamands — all at their best in March light and temperatures.
  • Sailing conditions: March trade winds are ideal for sailing. A day charter is one of the best investments of any St. Barts trip. Book here.
  • Gustavia harbor: Still busy with superyachts, though slightly less packed than January. The harbor walk at sunset remains spectacular.
  • Restaurant season peak: All major restaurants operating, generally slightly easier to book than January or February.

Where to Stay in March

March availability is meaningfully better than January and February — particularly in the second half of the month (post-Carnival, pre-Easter). If you’ve missed the January/February window, March is when to look for quality villa rentals and hotel rooms that may still have availability at slightly lower prices.

March vs February

For most travelers, the difference between February and March is: 10–20% lower prices, similar weather, slightly less crowded beaches, and better availability. If the February budget feels tight, browse March villa rates — the island experience is nearly identical.

March Budget

  • Villa rental: €2,200–€12,000+/night
  • Hotel room (mid-tier): €500–€2,000/night
  • Dinner: €100–€220/person
  • Car rental: €75–€120/day
  • Flights to SXM (return): $400–$1,100
